This site provides some information about members of the Knowles family from 
Hampshire UK, the Gammell family from Tipperary Ireland, the Douzans family 
from Banyuls sur mer Pyrenees Orientales France, the Wright family from 
Yorkshire UK, and others, as they moved southward in the 19th century, to New 
Caledonia, New Zealand and Australia.

Most dates and places cited are from registered bmd certificates or census 
images. Some are derived from the researches of other genealogists to whom I am 
most grateful.

There are a lot of stories here, most of which are unknown and can never be 
told. This work of identifying the people who are my family is meant to be the 
prelude to telling what stories I can.
